United Kingdom Pet Travel Requirements

Microchip Identification Required

Your pet must be identified with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip. If the microchip is not ISO compliant, you must provide your own microchip reader.

Rabies Vaccination Required

Your pet must have a valid rabies vaccination administered after microchipping and at least 21 days before travel. Boosters must be kept up to date.

Animal Health Certificate (AHC) Required

You need an AHC issued by a vet within 10 days of travel to the UK. Pet passports issued in GB are no longer valid for travel to the EU.

Tapeworm Treatment (Dogs only) Required

Dogs must be treated against tapeworm by a vet 24-120 hours before arrival in the UK. This must be documented in the AHC.

Approved Entry Routes Required

Pets must enter the UK through approved routes and travel companies. Check with your carrier for specific requirements.

Age Restriction Required

Pets must be at least 12 weeks old and must have received their rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travel.
